Customer Review :

Unwieldy : Hamilton 14975 Beach Professional Iron

I had such high hopes for the Hamilton Beach professional Iron, yet there are so many things wrong with it. For starters, the iron leaks water, no matter how miniature water you put into it and even though it has a "door" that closes. My hand is almost constantly wet when ironing, and it leaves a huge water spot on the ironing board. There is a maximum fill line on the iron and on the water cup provided to fill the iron. Confusing--which maximum line do you use? And it's hard to tell when the water is low. At what point do you refill? Furthermore, even though buyer Reports says that the shiny stainless plate irons better, I find that the no-stick plate on my previous iron did a best job. The new iron just doesn't get the wrinkles out, professional or not. Finally, the iron is heavy. I wouldn't mind this if it did the job, but why should I struggle with a heavy iron that doesn't even yield results? Yes, it steams well and shoots water on the clothes, but so does every other "nonprofessional" iron. Even so, I still have to use my spray bottle to get the results I want. Don't waste your money on this "professional" iron. You'd do best to buy a lightweight, easy-to-fill, inexpensive iron, which is capable of providing a fresh-pressed look for your clothes. And Hamilton Beach--you need to go back to the drawing board on this design--Big Time.
